February 18 & 19, 2012: Buffalo Soldiers

The Buffalo Soldiers will be at Fort Verde to celebrate African American Heritage Month, in conjunction with the Town's Pecan and Wine Festival. They will conduct living history presentations, as well as riding demonstrations.

March 3, 17, & 31, 2012: Adobe Brick-Making Workshops

11 am & 3 pm. Bring your family to Fort Verde to learn how to make adobe bricks and tour through the four remaining historic adobe buildings, fully furnished with period artifacts. March Archaeology Awareness Month activity.

March 10 & 24, 2012: Living History Presentations & Guided Tours

10 am – 3 pm. Take a stroll along Officer’s Row with a docent as they lead guided tours through the historic homes! Living history presentations will be available. March Archaeology Awareness Month activity.

April 14 & 15, 2012: History of the Soldier

This annual event offers visitors a living history timeline of military and civilian encampments from the Revolutionary War to the present day. Activities include flag raising ceremonies, military demonstrations, a fashion show, games for children and an 1870s-era baseball game. Veterans from around the state are encouraged to attend this special event and come to Camp Verde for picnics and special gatherings at Fort Verde State Historic Park.

July, 2012: Corn Fest & Vintage Baseball at Fort Verde (Date is TBA)

While Corn Fest is going on next to us, come to Fort Verde to partake or sit back and enjoy the Vintage baseball game(s). Kids are encouraged to learn how to make Victorian Christmas ornaments as part of our Christmas in July celebration.

September 2012: Tom Sawyer Day (Date is TBA)

Be a part of our annual volunteer workday and help us paint our white picket fence. Bring in a non-perishable food item and you too can paint the fence as Tom Sawyer did. All items will be donated to the local food bank. Contact Fort Verde staff for more information.

October 13 & 14, 2012: Fort Verde Days

Fort Verde Days is held annually in October.

Round up the entire family and march over to Fort Verde State Historic Park for the annual Fort Verde Days celebration. Activities typically include flag-raising and lowering ceremonies, living history presentations with the Buffalo Soldiers and re-enactors, special presentations, a fashion show, cavalry drills and a vintage baseball game. The weekend offers the public a chance to get a glimpse of the past, while celebrating Fort Verde Days in conjunction with events throughout the town of Camp Verde.

Travel back in time to experience Fort Verde's past as you hear tales about less-than-sumptuous food, hot wool uniforms, difficult living conditions, poor quality equipment and the everyday duties played out by the Verde Valley's residents. Fort Verde State Historic Park is home to four original adobe buildings and many military artifacts. Re-enactors are on hand to provide living history presentations.

This event is fun for the entire family. Celebrate this annual community event on an original military site while enjoying Camp Verde's southwestern style.

November 2012: Veterans Day Memorial Service (Date is TBA)

Bring your flags to be retired and take a moment to pay tribute to those who gave their lives serving our country and for those who continue to serve.

December 8, 2012: Victorian Christmas Wreath & Ornament-making workshop

11 am - 2 pm. Come and make your own Victorian Ornaments or make yourself a Christmas Wreath. (Donation required to cover cost of supplies)

December 8, 2012 - January 4, 2013: Victorian Christmas at Fort Verde

Come and see the homes decorated in a Victorian Christmas fashion and join in the festivities.

December 14 & 15: Candlelight Tours Through Fort Verde

Come join us as we host candlelight tours through the historic homes along Officer’s Row. Living history presentations with light refreshments to follow.
