(Phoenix, Arizona - Dec 23, 2009) - Twenty-seven Arizona's State Parks are open and operating. Many of these State Parks are operating with limited 5-day schedules, however if your family is in town, they can still take advantage of Arizona's beautiful scenery as they recreate.
Kartchner Caverns State Park still has cave tours available, Red Rock State Park still has room for their hikes, the river parks are gorgeous this time of year for boaters, and some of the historic parks are celebrating with Victorian holiday décor and holiday activities. If you are camping in the desert parks, don't worry, there are camping spaces at Lost Dutchman State Park, Alamo Lake State Park, and Catalina State Park. Historic State Parks and Kartchner Caverns are closed on Christmas Day, but camping Parks are open.
If you are going north to ski at Sunrise Ski Resort you can rent a camping cabin at Lyman Lake State Park for $50 a night, or stay in the campground in a cozy RV. Fool Hollow Lake State Park is open for camping even with the snowfall today and a lone tent camper was enjoying the winter experience...
Wishing you all a great vacation......
Snowflakes spilling from heaven's hand,
Falling gently on State Parks land
Trees heavy laden in powdery snow
Magic for the kids who know
That mom and dad are watching weather
Planning family weekends together
Once parks are dressed in robes of white
The kids can have their snowball fight
The dads can fish and moms can rest
Then all will sleep in the feathery nest.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM THE STATE PARKS!!
